What I’m going to do
I’m definitely going to add more detail into some of the storyboards because it seems like some of my shots don’t show everything vital in the shot. If I do this it will show more camera movements and places where there is a little character development.
This is my animatic for my short film. There are a few things that aren’t exactly clear e.g. angles of shots and scenery around the characters, but it gives you a good enough gist of what happens in the short.
I took a different route in producing my animatic than the others in my class. I decided to produce the soundtrack for my animatic first. I have produced this through garageband. However, I was met with problems from the start. Firstly, I wanted to find a dark fast paced drum beat. An example of what I’m looking for is here:
The problem is that there are several drums loops in garageband but they don’t sound like what I was looking for. The closest loop I found was effected drum kit 01 in tempo 179, but it just wasn’t the right drum kit as it sounds heavily edited. As a result, I had to make the drum beat on my own. I’m not really happy with the loop I’ve made as it clearly sounds very unprofessional.
With certain progression in the music, I went on to find other instruments that will build up the tension in the music. Unfortunately as the drum kits, the loops aren’t what I’m looking for. None of the loops in garageband apart from 1 loop, had a horror theme to it. Again, I had to make my own music. My other instruments include a low and high key violin. Other sound effects are involved which do fit in to the horror genre; These are mainly the suspense accents.
